Lancia facts: Lancia was founded in Turin in 1906, by two Fiat racing drivers, Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin. The Fiat connection turned full circle in 1969, when Fiat took over the Lancia brand. Over the years Lancia has built a reputation as an innovator, with the following first seen in Lancia production cars: 5-speed gearbox (1948), V6 engine (1950), and independent suspension. In a 2014 interview Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne saw a future in which Lancia cars would be sold in Italy only.
