I have an intermittent problem - every few months- with my car that may be due to a problem that requires an expensive fix (high pressure oil pump). Adelaide Motor Garage had my car for a day and charged me not much to look at it and attempt a diagnosis. Their advice was that the underlying cause could not be definitely be determined so the expensive work could not be guaranteed to fix the problem and I should probably hold off, at least for now. They seemed to do a thorough assessment. They could have just told me that the expensive work was necessary and gained by doing that work but did not.
