Lada facts: While Lada cars were first produced in Russia in 1970, the brand wasn't imported in Australia until 1994. In 1998 almost 6,000 Lada Samaras were modified by Peter Brock's Special Vehicles operation, after he fell out of favour with Holden. The cars were badged 'Samara by Brock', and cost $3,000 more than the base model.
