Holden facts: Prior to being a car maker, Holden made saddles. Founded in 1856, Holden began to make car bodies and motorcycle sidecars in 1908. It remained Australia-owned until 1931, when it became part of the US General Motors company. The first all-Australian car was made in 1948, the 48-215 sedan. Holden is the most successful brand at the Bathurst 1000 car race, winning 29 times out of the 57 times that race has been held between 1960 and 2015.
