I spoke with my adult son after the guy came out and said he'd re-gassed my air con, told me I needed a new compressor, gave me his car to drive up and get the extra $1,000 CASH to pay for it, and by the time I came back (about 12 minutes in all) he had apparently changed the compressor and it was all working. My son told me that he would've had to take the initial gas he'd put into the system back out, take the whole thing out and put a new one in and then regas it, all in 12 minutes, which was impossible. The guy just HAPPENED to have my exact model of compressor handy to do the job on hand. Should have seen it at the time but I didn't. There was too much going on with my son's wheelchair van ramp breaking and desperately trying to get it fixed before Christmas. I am the single mother of a disabled child on a pension! That was literally more than 2 weeks income for me!! Shameful behaviour. I literally paid $1140 to have my air con re-gassed. The guy is a snake-oil salesman! Update: 1 week later and the air con is now not working again. It will be interesting to see what my regular mechanic says.
