They were very discrimanatory to me, as a young woman. They assumed I didn’t know anything about a standard car service. My car went in for a 120km service, they called me about 1 hour after I dropped my car off to tell me it was going to cost me $800 (absolutely ridiculous!!) because they “found some things”. I asked them to list them to me and they said - “oil needs changing, spark plug needs replacing”. This is standard 120km servicing!!! I then told them to stop working in my car, I will take it somewhere else - and they then lowered the price by $350!!! They were clearly taking advantage of me - being a 19-year-old girl - not knowing I actually have some idea about car servicing. I will never be going back to Midas, and would never recommend them to anyone - overpriced and absolute liars!! And they put a sticker on my car without my consent. ... view more

Hi Caitlin, thanks for taking the time to write your outrageous story. As I remembered you had booked your vehicle in through AutoGuru for a 20,000 km service $332, when we did the inspection on your vehicle we explained to you that it was, in fact, a 120,000 km service, to which the Air and Pollen filters, spark plugs (platinum), needed changing as well as the engine oil, filter and a brake fluid change. We also recommended a change of wiper blades as they were streaky, I then quoted you $595 which you were happy to go ahead with, I never once mentioned $800, you never once rang me to stop work on your vehicle (I keep phone records). When you picked the vehicle up the bill was $550, I explained a few items that may require attention down the track and you told me you were selling the vehicle to your brother and he can sort them out, as for me taking advantage of a young girl makes my blood boil, I have a 17 yr old daughter.
