Towers Automotive is a Repco Authorised Service workshop in Charters Towers, North Queensland

Towers Automotive has been looking after vehicles in Charters Towers since 2005, working from the large blue workshop at 6-8 Cassidy Lane, Charters Towers City, Queensland, behind the Central State School oval. The business is owned and run by Aaron Stibbs and Kelly Stibbs, who bring more than 25 years of mechanical experience to the workshop and have built their reputation on personal, trusted and friendly service. What servicing and repairs do they specialise in?

Towers Automotive specialise in classic and vintage car repair and in Queensland safety certificates, and they also provide a full range of general mechanical work. That includes new car logbook servicing, 4WD repairs, electronic fuel injection work, auto electrical repairs such as alternators, starter motors, wiring and fuses, diagnostic checks, automatic transmission servicing, disc brake service, brake drum work and brake system flushing, and cooling system service. They hold ARCtick authorisation (AU37246) to carry out automotive air conditioning service and handle refrigerant responsibly. European and luxury vehicles are catered for as well, with servicing, diagnostics and repairs available for makes including Alfa Romeo.

What does the Safe-T-Stop testing lane do?

​

The workshop has invested in a testing lane called a Safe-T-Stop, which builds an objective picture of a vehicle's condition in a matter of minutes. It measures brakes, suspension and wheel alignment so faults can be identified early, and it also weighs the vehicle, which lets the team make an accurate recommendation on suspension repairs and upgrades.

What types of vehicles do they work on?

All makes and models are welcome, petrol and diesel, along with AWDs and 4WDs, utes, vans, buses and minibuses, light trucks, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, horse floats and trailers, off road and racing vehicles, tractors, earthmovers, forklifts and ATVs. That range means fleet operators and local businesses can have their light commercial vehicles and work equipment serviced and certified in the same workshop as the family car. Towers Automotive also run a tilt tray tow truck for cars and motorcycles.

Work is backed by the Repco Authorised Service nationwide warranty, and the team recommend, use and sell quality oils, lubricants and automotive parts. A local pickup and drop off service is available within Charters Towers, where a mechanic collects the vehicle and returns it once the job is finished, and car vacuuming can be arranged with a service. For those who prefer to stay, there is a waiting area with toilet access and free parking in front of the workshop.
