Southern Car Care Centre handles car servicing, repairs and roadworthy certificates in Braeside

Southern Car Care Centre is a family owned workshop at Factory 4, 122 Boundary Road, Braeside, in Melbourne's south east, Victoria. They service and repair most vehicle types, from a manufacturer handbook service through to custom exhaust work, and they are a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester. Customers are always given the cost of a service up front, and if anything extra is found during the job they are told about it and nothing further is done without their approval.

Who will customers deal with?

The workshop is run by owner and director John Savin, who brings an unusual combination of qualifications to a mechanical workshop. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and has been a member of Engineers Australia since 2020, and he also qualified as a light vehicle mechanic with a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology and as an electronic technician, both in 2004. He completed the Licensed Vehicle Tester training program through Federation University and has been approved by VicRoads as a licensed vehicle tester since March 2023. There are around 25 years of hands on experience behind the business.

What servicing do they carry out?

Minor and major servicing is available along with logbook servicing carried out to the manufacturer's handbook, which keeps a new car warranty valid. Pre purchase inspections are also offered for buyers who want a vehicle assessed before they commit to it, with the engineering and electronics background useful for picking up faults that are not obvious on a test drive.

What repairs do they handle?

The workshop takes on all mechanical repairs, including brake services, clutch replacement and repairs, steering and suspension work, cooling system repairs and air conditioning servicing. Exhaust work is a particular capability, covering repairs through to custom built systems. Tyres are supplied and fitted, with wheel balancing and wheel alignment done on site.

Do they issue roadworthy certificates?

Yes. As a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester they carry out roadworthy certificate inspections, which Victorian owners need when selling a vehicle or returning one to registration, and any repairs needed to pass can be completed at the same workshop.

What can customers expect?

A free pick up and drop off service is available, along with a free courtesy car, so a vehicle can be left for the day without anyone being stranded.

What do they provide for fleet operators?

Fleet and business customers use them for servicing, mechanical repairs, tyres and roadworthy inspections across cars, vans and light commercials, with the pick up and drop off service keeping vehicles moving.

Southern Car Care Centre services, repairs and certifies vehicles for drivers around Braeside and Melbourne's south east.
