Power Autos' is a locally and family owned mechanical business at 7/17 Abundance Road, Medowie, in the Port Stephens area of the New South Wales Hunter region. They run a fixed workshop backed by a fully equipped mobile workshop, so a vehicle can either come in or be worked on at a customer's home or workplace. Cars, caravans and trailers are all looked after, and the founder and operator, Kieran, is a fully qualified mechanic with more than 15 years in the trade.

What servicing do they provide?

Car servicing and new car logbook servicing are a large part of the work. Logbook servicing is carried out to the manufacturer's schedule so a new car warranty stays valid, and they also handle yearly services for vehicles no longer under warranty. Each service is set against where the vehicle is in its schedule rather than a one size fits all package.

What mechanical repairs do they carry out?

Repair work covers a wide spread of jobs, including brake pad and brake system repairs, suspension and shock absorbers, gearbox and transmission servicing, clutch replacement, timing belt replacement, radiator and coolant leak repairs, alternator replacement, fuel pumps and wheel bearings. Tyre replacement and puncture repairs are available too, and they can collect a vehicle, fit the tyres and return it.

How do they handle electrical and engine management faults?

Electrical and engine diagnostics are done in house, covering ECU diagnostics, check engine lights and electronic fuel injection faults, along with alternators, starting problems and fuel pumps. Battery testing and diagnostics are provided for all makes and models, with new batteries supplied and fitted.

Do they work on caravans and trailers?

​

Caravan and trailer work is a genuine part of the business. They carry out undercarriage inspections and repairs, checking suspension, brakes, axles, bearings and chassis for wear, damage or corrosion, which is the sort of work needed before a long trip or ahead of a pink slip safety inspection. Brake repairs on caravans and trailers are handled alongside the car side of the workshop.
