PimpMyCar is a vehicle styling and paint protection studio at 2/24 Vale Street, Malaga, in Perth's north east. Established in 2012, they specialise in paint protection film, vinyl wraps, ceramic coating and window tinting, and also handle caliper paint, wheel refinishing and chrome delete work. The studio operates by appointment, and more than 4,000 cars have come through the business across their Perth and Melbourne locations.

What paint protection work do they carry out?

​

Paint protection film is a clear, self healing layer applied over the factory paint, taking the rock chips, scratches and road grime that would otherwise mark the panels underneath. They apply film to headlights and tail lights as well, which cop a hard time from stone chips and UV yellowing, and to windscreens and sunroofs, where a clear ceramic film cuts heat and glare without darkening the glass. Ceramic coating is also available, and as an authorised Gtechniq applicator they seal paint in a glass-like layer that beads water and holds off UV and fallout.

What styling and colour change options are available?

Vinyl wraps are one of the main reasons people come to them, with matte, satin, gloss, chrome and colour shift finishes available for a full colour change that leaves the original paint untouched underneath. Chrome delete blacks out grilles, window trims, badges and mirrors in gloss or satin for a cleaner look. On the wheels, they paint calipers in heat resistant ceramic colour and strip and powder coat wheels back to a tough factory grade finish, which suits anything kerbed, faded or simply the wrong colour.

Do they tint windows?

​

Window tinting is done in ceramic and carbon film, cutting heat and glare while giving the glass a darker, blacked out finish. In the Perth climate the heat reduction counts for as much as the look does, and their window tint work carries a lifetime warranty.

What films and finishes do they use?

​

The studio works with established film brands including XPEL, 3M, STEK, Avery Dennison, SunTek, SolarGard and KPMF, alongside Gtechniq for ceramic coatings. Depending on the product, film warranties run up to 12 years, and their wrap and graphics work carries a 12 month in-house warranty covering their own materials and installation.

What happens once a car is booked in?

​

The job runs in four stages. It begins with a consultation and a fixed quote, then a deep clean, decontamination and paint correction, since the finish is only ever as good as the surface underneath it. Application is done panel by panel in climate controlled studio bays, with photo updates sent through as the work progresses. For anyone who cannot get the vehicle to Malaga, they run a concierge service using insured drivers and purpose built trucks for door to door pickup and delivery across Perth.
