Garage76 Automotive is a diesel performance and 4WD workshop in Queanbeyan West
Garage76 Automotive is a 4WD and diesel performance workshop at 126 Gilmore Road, Queanbeyan West, New South Wales, on the edge of the Canberra region. They specialise in diesel tuning, 4WD suspension and complete touring vehicle builds, and they also handle general servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs for four wheel drives, utes and light commercial vehicles.
Who runs Garage76 Automotive?
The business is owned and operated by two Canberra mechanics, Aaron Elworthy and Bill Metherell, who completed their mechanical apprenticeships together and have worked side by side in the same workshop since 2005. Every job that goes through the workshop is overseen by Aaron or Bill, and they are backed by a team of qualified technicians with more than 20 years of combined experience in 4WD tuning and fitting.
What diesel performance and tuning work is available?
Performance tuning is done in house on their own dyno, which lets them tune and verify a result on the spot rather than sending the vehicle elsewhere for testing. Work includes ECU remapping, turbocharger upgrades, injector, intake and intercooler upgrades, exhaust systems, snorkels and airbox upgrades. They also design and manufacture some of their own hardware, including intercooler fan kits and alloy airboxes for Toyota Landcruiser models, and they can take a vehicle right through to a complete pre registration build.
What 4WD and touring upgrades do they fit?
Suspension is a large part of the work, covering 4WD suspension packages, GVM upgrades for vehicles carrying heavier loads and JMACX coil conversions. They fit heavy duty clutch and brake upgrades, wheels and tyres, Norweld trays and canopies and a wide range of 4WD accessories and fit outs. Build packages are put together for popular touring platforms including the Toyota Landcruiser 70, 79 and 300 Series, the Toyota Tundra and the next generation Ford Ranger, and they also work on Chevrolet, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, RAM and Volkswagen models.
What servicing and repairs do they carry out?
Alongside the modification work they carry out 4WD servicing, scheduled maintenance and mechanical repairs, together with diagnostics when a fault needs to be traced. Because the same technicians fit the upgrades and service the vehicle afterwards, modified 4WDs are maintained by people who know what has been fitted and how it has been set up.
Do they look after work and fleet vehicles?
Yes. Utes and 4WDs used for work are serviced, repaired and upgraded here, and fleet operators running touring or field vehicles use them for GVM upgrades, suspension work, canopy and tray fit outs and ongoing servicing. It is one part of a workload that also takes in privately owned touring vehicles.
Garage76 Automotive gives 4WD owners and fleet operators around Queanbeyan and Canberra a single workshop for diesel tuning, suspension upgrades, touring fit outs and everyday servicing.
