East Coast Mobile Safety Certificates brings safety certificate inspections, mechanical work and tyre fitting to customers across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Logan

East Coast Mobile Safety Certificates is a mobile vehicle inspection, mechanical and tyre business based at Ormeau, at the northern end of the Gold Coast. Their inspectors, mechanics and tyre service vehicles travel to customers throughout the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Logan City and the wider South East Queensland region, carrying out safety certificate inspections, servicing, repairs and tyre fitting at homes and workplaces. They have operated as an approved inspection station for more than 18 years, and also run a fully equipped mechanical workshop at Ormeau for anyone who would rather bring the vehicle in.

What does a Queensland safety certificate cover?

A safety certificate, still commonly called a roadworthy certificate, is required when a registered light vehicle is sold, when registration transfers to a new owner or a business, when an unregistered vehicle is being registered, and when interstate registration is moved across to Queensland. Their examiners assess the items that determine basic roadworthiness, including tyres, brakes, suspension, seats and seat belts, lights and reflectors, windows and wipers, and body rust or damage. A standard inspection generally takes 40 to 50 minutes, the result is lodged electronically with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, and a digital copy is sent through to the customer. They also handle certificates of inspection for rideshare and light passenger vehicles, and modification plates where a vehicle has been altered.

What vehicles can they inspect across South East Queensland?

The team is qualified, licensed and Transport and Main Roads approved to inspect a wide range of vehicles. That covers cars, utes, 4WDs and SUVs, motorcycles, light through to heavy trucks up to 16 tonne, caravans, camper trailers and horse floats with an ATM between 750 kg and 4,500 kg, and motorhomes.

What mechanical and tyre work do they carry out on site?

Their mobile mechanics take care of general servicing and fixed price logbook servicing that keeps a new vehicle warranty in place, along with brake pad replacement, battery testing and replacement, suspension work, alternator and starter motor replacement, vehicle scans and diagnostics, oil and fluid leak repairs, and air conditioning re-gassing. Their tyre service vehicles supply, fit and repair tyres for cars, light trucks, caravans and trailers across a broad range of tyre brands. They also take on 4WD repairs and accessory fitting, and work with fleet operators who need vehicles kept compliant and available.

What happens if a vehicle does not pass?

Where a vehicle does not pass the initial inspection, the customer receives a report setting out the specific items needing attention, and Transport and Main Roads allows 14 days to have those rectified and a re-inspection booked. The same team is qualified to carry out the repairs, so smaller items such as a globe or a set of wiper blades can often be sorted on the spot, and larger work such as worn brake pads or tyre replacement can be quoted and completed within that window. Having the repairs handled in the same visit avoids a second trip and keeps a sale or registration moving.

What can customers expect from the team?

Same day service is available depending on demand, with mobile inspectors, mechanics and tyre fitters on the road six days a week. A detailed written report is issued after every inspection and every vehicle service, and pre-purchase inspections are available for anyone assessing a used vehicle before buying, supplied as an electronic report with photographs.

Inspections, repairs and tyre fitting come to the vehicle, wherever it is parked across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Logan.
