Blackwood Auto & Electrical is a family owned and operated workshop at 2/255 Main Road, Blackwood, in the southern foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1980, they bring mechanical servicing, auto electrical work and vehicle air conditioning together under one roof, and they also supply and fit batteries. Two separate workshops were amalgamated into the current business, so mechanical and electrical technicians now work from the same premises.

General mechanical work covers routine servicing and scheduled maintenance through to more involved repairs, on all makes and models. Licensed technicians handle the work and quality parts are used so a repair holds up, and having the electrical side in the same building means a job that turns out to be electrical rather than mechanical does not need to go anywhere else. Caravans and trailers are looked after as well as cars.

Auto electrical repair is one of the strengths of the business, taking in vehicle wiring, engine management faults, and alternator and starter motor service and replacement. They invest continually in current diagnostic equipment and software so they have up to date information on modern electrical and engine management systems, which matters on vehicles where a fault only shows up as a warning light.

Air conditioning repair and maintenance is a regular service, from a system that has stopped cooling through to routine servicing to keep one working properly. The team has around 100 years of combined automotive experience between them. Barry brought the two workshops together into the single operation that runs today, and Samantha looks after customers on the front counter and keeps work moving through the workshop. Being family run, the business puts weight on clear communication about what a vehicle needs and what it will take.

Local businesses and fleet operators use the workshop for servicing, mechanical repairs, auto electrical diagnostics, air conditioning and battery replacement across cars, utes and light commercials.
