Mobile mechanics are a convenient way to get your car serviced or repaired. Whilst they can generally do the same work as a workshop-based mechanic, there are some things you need to know about mobile mechanics.
How much does a mobile mechanic cost?
The cost of a mobile mechanic can vary, depending on the job they’re completing. Generally speaking, mobile mechanics can charge lower hourly rates than a workshop, due to lower overheads.
Can a mobile mechanic do any kind of repair?
Unfortunately, no. Whilst mobile mechanics can do most general servicing and repairs, some major repairs do require the use of a workshop.
Can a mobile mechanic do a complete service of my car?
Yes. A mobile mechanic can complete all tasks required for basic and logbook services.
Can a mobile mechanic complete jobs as fast as a workshop?
Generally speaking, yes, however, some jobs might be quicker to complete in a workshop due to having access to equipment such as a car hoist or lift, which allows for easier access to certain parts of the car.
Can a mobile mechanic work anywhere?
No. A mobile mechanic needs a flat surface in a secure location, with at least 1.5 metres of space on each side of the car. Due to safety concerns, mobile mechanics generally will not work in public areas or on the side of the road.
