AmpolCard Services & Repairs FAQs

Here’s everything you need to know about booking AmpolCard services and repairs online through AutoGuru.

How do online bookings work for car servicing and basic repairs?

We’ve made getting your car serviced or repaired super easy by providing you with a convenient way to get quotes and book online.

Depending on the work you’ve requested and the available service providers in your area, you’ll either receive an instant quote or be able to request a quote which can both be booked online. In some cases, you’ll be prompted to send an online quote request and book directly with the service provider.

Which jobs are instantly priced and bookable online?

Car servicing, inspections and some minor repairs can be instantly quoted and booked online with most service providers.

Other work such as tyres, batteries, windscreens and more complex repairs may require a quote request to be sent to the service provider. Whichever way you receive a quote and book you can be sure you’re getting a great deal with your AmpolCard. All you need to do on the day of your confirmed booking is show your AmpolCard. Check out our AmpolCard Online Booking Guide to learn more.

Will I be charged a fee to use this online booking service?

No.

What if my car’s make and model isn’t listed?

We can provide servicing and repair quotes for most passenger vehicles on Australian roads. If you don’t see your vehicle listed, call us at 1300 871 785 for the Fleet Services Team.

Will the price I’m quoted via AutoGuru.com.au, be the final price I’ll pay?

Yes. For the work included in the quote, the price you’re quoted is the final price you’ll pay.

What’s included in the price of an instant quote?

Instantly priced quotes for servicing and repair work via AutoGuru.com.au include parts, labour and GST. Note: Quotes for inspection and diagnostic jobs do not include pricing for parts.

What if the service provider finds additional work that’s required?

Service providers are advised to contact you directly in order to discuss additional work that is not included in the initial quote.

If you give the go-ahead, the additional work can be processed on your AmpolCard and the service provider should seek approval from the AmpolCard account holder before work begins.

Where can I find the inclusions for my car service?

Inclusions for basic and logbook services can be found on the search results page or the booking finalise page. Once you’ve entered all your details, you’ll see a list of suitable service providers in your area and their quoted price to carry out your service. You can view all the inclusions for your service at the top of this page, as well as on the booking finalise page under ‘What’s included?’. If you’ve made an online booking through AutoGuru, we’ll also send you your service inclusions in the confirmation email.

Are all Ampol service providers on the AutoGuru online booking portal?

If you would like to book with an Ampol service provider not listed on AutoGuru, you are able to do so by contacting the business directly, just let them know you’ll be paying with your AmpolCard. To locate an AmpolCard service provider, use our merchant locator.

Why do some service providers have visible pricing and a ‘book now’ button, and others don’t?

Service providers have the option to provide AmpolCard customers with instantly priced quotes - these service providers will have a ‘book now’ button. For service providers that do not offer instantly priced quotes, you will be able to request a quote.

Can a service provider come to me?

Yes! AmpolCard has a network of mobile service providers that can come to your home or workplace to carry out vehicle inspections, car servicing and selected repairs, providing that you have a flat, safe area for them to work. We’ll display ‘Mobile Service’ within a service provider's listing or you can filter by ‘Mechanic Type’ to customise your AmpolCard search results.

Will my manufacturer's warranty be affected if an independent auto repairer completes my logbook service instead of the dealership?

No. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) states that any certified mechanical workshop or mobile mechanic can service or repair your car without voiding your New Car Manufacturers Warranty, as long as the manufacturer’s maintenance and servicing standards are met. The qualified mechanics displayed in the AmpolCard search results are able to carry out logbook servicing, according to the manufacturer’s specifications, using quality parts and lubricants.

Please note: This does not apply to extended warranties. We recommend contacting the issuer of the extended warranty to confirm your servicing and repair options.

Will the service provider stamp my logbook?

Yes. For logbook services, the service provider will sign and stamp your logbook to meet manufacturer requirements. If the service provider has not stamped your logbook, please contact the service provider first. If you are not able to reach the service provider please email us at fleet@autoguru.com.au so we can help sort it out!

Can I book a capped price service with a dealership through AutoGuru?

Yes, if available, you will be able to request a quote for a capped price service from a dealership via the AmpolCard search results.

Can I reschedule the date of my booking?

Yes. Please contact the service provider directly, they will be able to reschedule for you free of charge.

What happens if I cancel or don’t show up to my booking?

If you booked through AutoGuru and cancel within 24 hours of your booking, or fail to show up, you may receive a $20 cancellation fee. If you’re running late, we recommend contacting the service provider directly first. If you’re having difficulties contacting the service provider, please give the Fleet Services Team a ring on 1300 871 785 so we can help.

How long will my service or repair take?

If you’ve booked with a workshop, the service provider will usually require your vehicle for the entire day. Although the service or repair might only take a few hours, workshops run extremely tight schedules. When you drop your vehicle off, we always recommend asking the service provider how long the job will take and when you will be able to pick it up. Service providers will try their very best to accommodate your schedule, but we recommend organising other means of transportation for the entire day.

If you’ve booked with a mobile provider, you will only be without your vehicle for the time it takes to complete the job. When the service provider arrives, we recommend asking them how long the job will take once they’ve had a chance to assess the job.

I’ve booked in with a workshop, can I request a loan car?

Yes! Some service providers can offer a loan car depending on their availability. If a service provider offers this as an extra, it’ll be displayed on their listing in the search results, or listed as an optional extra on the finalise page. Remember, loan cars are extremely popular so availability is not guaranteed on the day.

Some service providers offer a loan car as a complimentary extra, while others charge a fee. If you have requested a loan car from a service provider that charges a fee, please check your Higher Authorisation rules before booking to make sure a loan car is covered.

What if I requested a loan car but it’s not available on the day?

For your convenience, two other transport options are available. Most service providers offer either a drop off or pick up service, where they can drop you off at or pick you up from a location within a 5km radius of their business whilst your car is at their workshop.

Alternatively, you can book a service provider that offers a complimentary Uber ride voucher up to $10! Service providers that offer this extra will have it displayed on their listing in the AmpolCard search result and will also be available as an extra on the finalise page. If you add this option to your booking, we’ll send you all the details on how to redeem and use your voucher in your confirmation email.

Can I get quotes for repairs and inspections?

Yes. Once you have entered in your vehicle details and location, you’ll be able to browse through available repair tasks or inspections that you would like a quote for.

How long will it take for a quote to be sent to me?

For servicing, inspections and select repairs, we can provide instant quotes. However, some tasks require a quote request to be sent to service providers. You will usually receive a quote within 24 hours.

How many quotes can I expect to receive?

If you have sent off a quote request to local service providers through AutoGuru, you can expect to receive up to three quotes back. If you’d like more quotes, you can contact a local AmpolCard service provider directly using our merchant locator.

What if I don’t receive a quote?

We recommend contacting a local AmpolCard service provider directly using our merchant locator.

If I would like more quotes, is this possible?

If you’d like more quotes, you can contact a local AmpolCard service provider directly using our merchant locator.

What are my payment options?

When booking your vehicle in for AmpolCard Services and Repairs through AutoGuru, you must pay using your Services and Repairs approved AmpolCard. If there is additional work that needs to be performed on your car or specific items that are not approved to be paid for by your AmpolCard, then you will need to discuss alternative payment options with the service provider at the time of agreeing to complete this work. Because the additional work cannot be processed on your AmpolCard, you will need to pay the agreed-upon amount directly to the service provider.

Note: If you have a private vehicle that is not connected to an AmpolCard Services and Repairs account, AutoGuru offers the same convenient online booking experience to private customers. Simply head to AutoGuru.com.au and use flexible payment methods such as Afterpay, humm and PayPal.

Will I get an invoice at the end of my service or repair?

Yes, all service providers should provide an invoice when you pick up the car. This should include the details of what has been completed on the job and any additional recommendations for repair work needed on your vehicle. This is proof that the work was done on your car and is needed in case any issues arise.

Will my company’s existing Higher Authorisation rules apply?

Yes.
