Adelaide is such a beautiful place, it’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to jump on a plane and fly away from one of the world’s most liveable cities. The number of beaches, wineries, festivals and spectacular national parks would be hard to leave behind.

However, knowing you’ll be coming back will no doubt ease the pain of leaving, and you’ll feel even better if, on your return, you can walk straight back to your car that you parked in a secure spot nearby and at a great price.

If you’re boarding a flight from Adelaide Airport soon and want some handy tips on parking, then read on to find out the options and get a heads-up on the prices you can expect to pay.

Where is Adelaide airport?

Adelaide international and domestic airport is 6km west of the city centre. It’s situated next to West Beach, so seaside scenery on departure and landing will be a pleasant way to start and end your trip. Being so close to the city could also be an advantage for parking options.

A great option for Adelaide airport parking, and one of the most convenient for the occasional traveller is with Parking Deals Australia.

It’s definitely worth taking the time to have a look as they are offering premium undercover Adelaide airport parking deals from just $115 a week, including a free shuttle transfer. That’s a sweet deal.

Other Adelaide airport parking options

The City of Adelaide owns and operates nine off-street UPark car parks, some offering long-term 24/7 access. For a monthly fee you could pay between $270 to $430 (includes $20 set up fee). From there it would be a quick Uber ride to the airport.

Wilson and Secure parking also have car parks available in Adelaide from $5 an hour or from $11 a day for early birds. They also offer monthly parking or overnight options. Adelaide Metro run buses between the city and the airport. This is a 40-minute journey for a maximum cost of $10.60.

Maybe it’s more convenient to park at a private car park provider like Andrew’s Airport Parking. Located just a block away from the airport, they offer long or short-term secure parking. Pricing for a week is $105 undercover and $75 outdoor. They also offer a shuttle to the airport and extra services available like a car detail and service while you vacay. You really can’t beat the practicality of parking within a short walk or shuttle ride from the terminal though. At the time of publishing, Adelaide Airport parking was offering a week at $142 undercover and $84 outdoors. It’s a good idea to book ahead though as the car park can get full.

Tips on airport parking

  • Make sure you have 24/7 access to your car
  • Are the facilities secure and under surveillance?
  • Will you need to book in advance to secure a spot?
  • Will your car be moved or will it have it's on allocated space?
  • Will the vehicle be undercover?
  • Is the vehicle covered by insurance whilst on the car park lot?
  • Is the shuttle bus available 24/7 and on-demand?

Other airport parking options

Some other options that you may not have considered are parking apps. These apps - such as ParkMe and Parkopedia - search within your chosen location and provide a list of parking options and prices. They will even show how full the car park is in real-time. That’s pretty impressive.

Adelaidians are also leasing their car spaces, at their chosen cost, through the Parkhound app. This app enables John Doe to lease their driveway, garage or free car space out to someone who needs it. At the time of publication, across the road from Adelaide airport, there was a sheltered car park available through Parkhound for $49.39 a week or $214 for a month. Payments can be made online but you would need to make personal arrangements with the owners to gain access.

It’s definitely worth doing the research on parking before you take off on your trip. It can save time and money in the long run and also save you from stressing about finding something at the last minute. Heading to the airport is when you're meant to start relaxing, not tearing your hair out looking for a car park that stays within budget!
