I purchased a pre-purchase inspection, even though I had already bought the vehicle, for peace of mind. I chose Appleyard because I didn't want to pay the $280 for a Redbook inspection, though now I can see the difference. Redbook offers this: "A qualified inspector will conduct a 150-point visual check of the vehicle. The inspection will cover the vehicle's exterior, interior, engine condition, and any accident damage. Wheels, tyres, brake pads, and underbody are also visually checked and road test completed where possible." Brendan spent only 10 minutes with my vehicle. He started with a scan test, which took most of the time. He then revved the engine a few times to check how it sounded. Finally, he briefly inspected under the hood and then checked the tyres. I wanted it to last at least 30 minutes, and to be more comprehensive, so was left somewhat disappointed. The invoice and report was also delayed. I gave 3 stars because at least I have the peace of mind that a mechanic has inspected the vehicle, but would have liked more.
